AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD:

  • Fall Clean-Up - Saturday September 26, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Bring your rakes, bow saws and gloves. Please come early, enjoy a cup of coffee and a roll, chat with your neighbors. We would really like to see more residents participate, it’s your neighborhood, please help!
  • National Night Out - now called Nite to Unite was held on Tuesday August 4, 2009. Approximately 50 neighbors participated, bringing 123 pounds of food which were donated by Riverwoods Homes to the Community Action Council. Thanks to all that participated.
  • Board Vacancy - Consider supporting your neighborhood organization. The time commitment is minimal and you will meet some really nice neighbors. Please call any board member if you are willing to help.

Board Meeting Actions September 15, 2009

  • Annual Dues: Dues are presently $74.16. The Board unanimously approved a motion to increase the 2010 dues by 3% as allowed by the Bylaws. The 2010 annual dues will be $76.38.
  • Offices of the Board: Suzanne Schanno will now serve as President of the Board. Mike Phenicie will assume duties of the Treasurer; Mark Sticha, Architectural Control, Bob Theis, Maintenance. The changes were approved by unanimous vote of the Board.
  • Area Concerns: Various homeowners have brought the following concerns to the attention of Board members:
    • Reports of illegal overnight street parking. Homeowners are reminded that police are to be called to address these violations.
    • Reports of nuisance noise; report to police.
    • Complaints of homeowners leaving trash containers outside, which are not allowed under the Covenants. Ref: Article VI, Board of Directors: Powers, Duties and Restrictions
    • Complaints of homeowners storing non-motorized items outside, such as trailers and boats. There is a $10 per day fine for violations of improper storage violations which the Board has the authority to impose for non-compliance. Ref: Article VI, Board of Directors: Powers, Duties and Restrictions
    • There have been several accounts of the Commons area being littered and strewn with garbage and beverage containers. This area is a unique and desirable benefit to home ownership in the Riverwoods Homes Association. Let us all keep the Commons in top condition. Parents can remind children and teens that their littering is unacceptable.
    • The Burnsville Police can be reached for non-emergency calls at 952-895-4600; all emergencies call 911.

Association By-law of the Month: The following are prohibited within the Homes of Riverwoods per Article XI. For complete details see www.riverwoods.info.

  • Section 5. Garbage and Refuse Storage and Removal. Outside storage of garbage and refuse is prohibited. This applies to any form of refuse including any discarded lumber and debris from construction and remodeling projects.
  • Section 12. Storage. The outside storage of recreational and motor vehicles is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to boats, trailers, campers, snowmobiles, etc. All storage exceeding three days must be offsite or within the homeowners’ garage.

ANNUAL NIGHT OF LUMINARIES: The 2009 Night of Luminaries will be Sunday, December 20. If the weather is conducive to a gathering, there may be organized caroling activity. An alternate date in the event of extreme inclement weather will be Sunday, December 27. More information will be made available as the event date approaches.

BURNSVILLE'S REQUEST TRACKER The Request Tracker is a tool that can be used to report your concerns to the city. It can be used for reporting potholes, graffiti, parking concerns or other concerns. Requests are monitored from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
